الخدمة الاجتماعية والتنمية البشرية من وجهة نظر معاصرة

هناك العديد من المهن التي تعمل في مجال التنمية البشرية التي تشبه تلك التي تؤديها الخدمة الاجتماعية، والسؤال الذي يفرض نفسه هنا هل تعتبر مهنة الخدمة الاجتماعية تكرار للعديد من المهن طالما أن هذه المهن تتعامل مع الناس كأفراد، أو كجماعات، أو أسر، أو مجتمعات ومنظمات؟ والحقيقة هنا أن الخدمة الاجتماعية في تعاملها مع الناس تحاول أن يكون لها أهدافها التي تميزها عن غيرها من المهن الأخرى، فالأخصائي الاجتماعي مثلا تكون أهدافه من خلال تعامله مع العملاء الذين يعانون من اضطرابات نفسية أكبر من مجرد حل المشكلات النفسية لهؤلاء العملاء. ومن الملاحظ أن النماذج المعاصرة للتدخل المهني في الخدمة الاجتماعية قد جعل المهنة أكثر تميزا عن المهن الأخرى عما كانت عليه من قبل، فطريقة العمل مع الأفراد وفقا للممارسة التقليدية دائما ما تقارن بالإرشاد النفسي وكثيرا ما توجد مناطق صراع بين أدوار الأخصائيين الاجتماعيين والنفسيين في كثير من مجالات العمل المشترك بينهم، ولكن عند الحديث عن الأخصائي الاجتماعي الممارس من خلال الممارسة المتقدمة نجد أنه أصبح يضيف إلى أدواره العديد من الأدوار التي تتعلق بالتعامل مع جميع الأنساق المرتبطة بالمشكلة وليس التعامل مع العميل كفرد أو كجماعة فقط. وعموما فإن الخدمة الاجتماعية في إطار الممارسة العامة المتقدمة تتميز عن المهن الأخرى -في تعاملها مع الناس.
